Hi!
My name is Maria, and I’m the founder of MBS Design Atelier.
I was born in Poznań, Poland, and in 2022 I moved to Barcelona, Spain to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design. During my studies, I also had the opportunity to live and study in London, UK, as part of an Erasmus exchange program.
I’m passionate about both personal and professional growth. I truly believe that continuous learning is essential not only in our private lives, but also in the world of design, where everything is constantly evolving.
The Company
MBS Design Atelier was born in 2024 from a desire to share my personal experience as an Interior Design student.
Before choosing my career path, I took several online courses that confirmed my passion for interior design, yet, once I began my studies, I quickly realized that the reality of this profession was more complex, challenging, and rewarding than I had imagined.
After studying and working across different countries, universities, and studios, I decided to create a space where I could summarize everything I wished I had known at the beginning, insights into this relatively young and constantly evolving profession.
That’s how MBS Design Atelier was born: as a platform to share knowledge, inspire growth, and support aspiring interior designers in finding their own creative path.
As a Person
I’m an organised and hard-working person (perhaps a bit of a perfectionist), always striving to give my best.
Living abroad has taught me adaptability, independence, and problem-solving, while my unconventional education made me creative, self-disciplined, and curious.
I’m determined, dependable, and open to learning. Whether through studies, projects, or everyday experiences, I constantly seek to grow - both as an individual and as a professional.
As a Designer
My biggest goal as an Interior Designer is to create meaningful, impactful design experiences while always exploring new ways to tell visual stories and transform the spaces we inhabit.
I believe interior design is not only about aesthetics. It’s about improving people’s lives - their routines, their emotions, their sense of belonging. Whether it’s a private home or a public space, good design can give hope, inspire growth, and make everyday life a little more beautiful and functional.
For me, a well-designed space tells a story - your story - while balancing practicality, comfort, and visual harmony.
My Design Philosophy
When I first began studying interior design, I thought it was mainly about decoration, about colors, materials, and beautiful furniture. But soon I learned that Interior Design is much more than that. It’s about understanding the structure, function, and human experience of space.
We are not just decorators. We are designers, and, in many ways, architects of interior environments. Our role is to create spaces that work, that feel right, and that improve the way people live and interact every day.
In Polish, there’s a clear distinction between architecture and interior architecture, but there’s no direct equivalent of “interior design.” That’s why I often explain that I’m not here to simply pick wall colors or cushions (though I do that too!). I’m here to design spaces that improve lives.
How It All Began…
My passion for improving spaces started long before I knew what “interior design” even was...
As a child, I constantly rearranged my room (much to my family’s amusement) and I loved helping friends redesign theirs. I’ll never forget how proud I felt seeing how those small changes made a big difference in how they lived and felt in their spaces.
That feeling has never left me. It’s what continues to drive me today, the joy of transforming everyday environments into something meaningful, personal, and inspiring.
